On Wednesday 4th June, the Mitres CC, made up of Old Llandavians, parents and staff, took to the Bishop’s Field to play CSL’s new addition to the sporting sides this year, the 2nd XI.
Having lost the toss and been put into the field, CSL proceeded to show some accurate bowling, athletic fielding and attacking field placements to cause the Mitres some challenges.
Aside from two of the Mitres batsmen, the 2nd XI successfully constrained the run rate and took regular wickets, with Wil M-O, Matthew C and Oliver P sharing the wickets between them. The 2nd XI chase was fast and furious as they quickly moved to 8 an over. However, it was the regular fall of wickets that caused the biggest challenge to the 2nd XI. Significant contributions from Sam M, Vihaan J and Vedant L-S moved the side within touching distance of the total, with it being left to Matthew C to hit the winning runs in the penultimate over of the match.
It was great to welcome some Old Llandavians back as spectators, some of whom were meeting for the first time in 30 years!
