On Friday 4th April, the CSL community gathered for our annual memorial football match between our 1st XI and Old Llandavians to honour the legacy of much-loved teacher and coach, Mr Nic Patterson.

Pupils, parents, staff and Old Llandavians joined Nic’s family for a high-energy match that ended in a fiercely contested 2-2 draw.

It was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces return, including former Head of School Walter Taylor, who proved a constant thorn in Rhydian B’s side, and James Warren who pulled the strings for the OLs but found himself relentlessly tracked by the classy Zac G and tireless Ansh A.

The OLs struck first, with Harri Jehu finishing a slick move down CSL’s right flank. But a confident Jack S levelled the score after pouncing on a chance created by Jac B’s relentless pressing. Lewis Davies restored the OLs’ lead, only for Jack to steal the show with a stunning long-range curler that left everyone, including, it seemed, the referee, momentarily speechless. Late drama followed as James L denied the OLs from the penalty spot, ensuring the spoils were shared.

Thank you to all who played and supported the event which was a fitting tribute to Mr Patterson’s lasting impact.
